SUMMARY:Meditations for anxiety (half-day course\, registration required)
DESCRIPTION:Meditations for Anxiety: Half-Day Course \nWith Modern Buddhism Teacher Kadam Sharon Lovich\, Resident Teacher of the Je Tsongkhapa Kadampa Meditation Center in Asheville\, NC \nAnxiety is quite prevalent in these turbulent times. It is common to experience fear and anxiety\, and as a result we often turn to things that don’t address the real problem. We try to numb ourselves with denial\, distractions\, food or other substances\, or we just exhaust ourself trying to control everything around us. In this half-day course based in Buddhist Psychology we will learn time tested methods that will help us to deeply relax and take hold of the ‘mind of anxiety’\, so that it is no longer in control of our life. \nCourse will include guided meditation\, talks\, Q&A and a tea break. Everyone Welcome. \nRegistration Link: https://www.meditationinasheville.org/meditations-for-anxiety-johnson-city-tn/ \nCost: course fee is 30.00 per person \nLocation: Meditation/Classroom space\, 2nd floor

Music will range across improvisations\, chants of 12th century mystic Hildegard von Bingen\, Appalachian folk tunes\, and original compositions. We will be focusing on the robust joy of midsummer\, celebrating the explosion of green and life around us in this beautiful place we call home. \nHer Medieval Sound Bath installment of this event received the Sound Design Award at this year’s Asheville Fringe Fest (and was sold out twice) so you don’t want to miss this! \nFloor cushions will be provided\, but feel free to bring your own or your own yoga mat. \nHow To Register: https://www.tickettailor.com/events/toxoplasmaarts/2229902 \nCost: 18.00 per person \nLocation: Classroom/meditation space\, 2nd floor \nContact: moiras.mountain@gmail.com \nAbout Moira: \nMoira Murphy is originally from East Tennessee\, but has lived and performed all over the country. Her path has taken her across opera stages\, on stage with orchestras\, jazz combos\, indie\, rock\, goth\, and metal bands\, behind the piano\, and to the conducting podium. She is currently a music director\, music teacher\, and arranger living back in the hills and hollers. Her arrangements of the chants of 12th century mystic Hildegard von Bingen have transformed from a recital into a full sound bath experience\, which has blossomed into appearances around the country and recordings available online. Her debut solo album\, ‘A Trembling Flame\,’ as well as guided meditation tracks\, are streaming on Spotify and YouTube.
